- How it works
- Garments are washed in a bath with a bleaching agent. Intensity is controlled by concentration, temperature and time, and colour is often checked during the process. The bleach is then neutralised and the garments thoroughly rinsed.
- Result
- A lighter, fairly even colour with a fresh, heavily washed look.
- Best applications
- Light or mid-tone garments with a relaxed, summery style.
- Garments it is commonly used on
- Jeans, shorts, skirts and denim shirts.
- Care points and remarks
- Bleach can weaken the fabric and damage stretch fibres, threads and trims if not well controlled and neutralised. Handling requires protection, and effluent treatment is a relevant environmental point.
