- How it works
- The garment is placed on an inflatable form or a board. An operator scrapes the chosen areas with sandpaper or another abrasive, following the intended wear pattern. The garment then usually goes on to washing.
- Result
- Lightened areas with a natural worn look, for example on thighs, knees and seat, with precise control of shape and intensity.
- Best applications
- Detailed, localised wear on denim when a controlled, piece-by-piece result is wanted.
- Garments it is commonly used on
- Jeans, denim jackets, skirts and shorts.
- Care points and remarks
- Because it is manual, small differences between garments can occur, so an approved standard garment is usually used. The cotton dust it produces calls for good ventilation and respiratory protection.
