Wet process
Normal Wash
A basic wash of the finished garment with water and detergent, without aiming for a worn effect. It cleans and stabilises the garment and gives it a more natural hand feel.

- How it works
- Garments are washed in industrial machines with detergent, and sometimes softener, at controlled temperature and time. The wash removes size, impurities and production residues. They are then rinsed and dried.
- Result
- Colour stays close to the original, with a softer, less stiff hand. The garment shrinks what it was going to shrink before reaching the end customer.
- Best applications
- Garments that should keep their colour and clean look, but with a better hand and more stable measurements.
- Garments it is commonly used on
- Dark-wash jeans, shirts, twill trousers, T-shirts and sweatshirts.
- Care points and remarks
- Garments can shrink during washing, so shrinkage is usually taken into account in pattern making.
