- How it works
- The garment is treated with a finishing resin. Creases are formed by hand, with moulds or folds, and the garment is then cured in an oven at high temperature. The heat makes the resin set the fibres in that position.
- Result
- Sharp, three-dimensional creases, such as whiskers at the hip or folds behind the knee, giving a heavily worn look.
- Best applications
- Garments that need a strong worn-in effect that holds over time.
- Garments it is commonly used on
- Mainly jeans; also twill trousers, shirts and jackets.
- Care points and remarks
- Some finishing resins can release formaldehyde, a substance subject to regulatory limits in many markets. High-temperature curing can also reduce fabric strength. These points are usually checked with tests.
