- How it works
- With a sponge, a product such as a lightening agent or pigment is applied to defined areas. With a brush, the surface is abraded to raise and lighten the fibre. The garment is then washed to set or neutralise the effect.
- Result
- Patches, highlights or lighter areas with soft transitions, giving a handcrafted, worn look.
- Best applications
- Highlights and localised effects that complement other washes.
- Garments it is commonly used on
- Jeans and denim jackets, and also twill trousers and some knitwear.
- Care points and remarks
- When lightening agents are used, the same handling and neutralisation precautions apply. Because it is manual, results vary slightly between garments.
